Shortly before Ben's 8th birthday on the 7th May 2017, he was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive brain tumour. This diagnosis came out of the blue as Ben had always been very fit and healthy. We had no indication Ben was unwell until he told us he couldn't use his arm properly that afternoon.
Ben had a zest for life, he was always happy and enthusiastic and he had a real passion for football, in particular Bristol City. He was a kind and caring boy who would always look out for other people, he was generous, loving and selfless.
Unfortunately, Ben lost his fight against cancer on the 6th November 2017, almost six months to the day he was diagnosed. Throughout Ben's illness we have received amazing support and care from so many people, in particular CLIC Sergeant and Children's Hospice South West, Charlton Farm, without whom our journey would have been inconceivable.
We want to raise money in Ben's name to support Charlton Farm and ensure other families are able to access such vital support, especially for end of life care. We hope to use our experience to bring further changes to Charlton Farm and to make the amazing facilities here even better.
